A media conference to publicize the National Supply Chain Day celebrations and ISMM National Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2025 was held at the OPA Auditorium on Thursday, 07th Aug 2025. The event was organized to raise awareness about the upcoming celebrations and Awards, highlighting the importance of Supply Chain Management and recognizing outstanding achievements in the field.
The conference was addressed by Mr. Lilantha Subasinghe, President of the Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM). In his remarks, Mr. Subasinghe provided a brief history of ISMM, emphasizing its role as the pioneer Supply Chain Educational Institute in Sri Lanka. Established in 1972 and incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1981, ISMM has been at the forefront of Supply Chain Management Education and professional development for over five decades.
Mr. Subasinghe also highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by ISMM to promote excellence in Supply Chain Management. These include educational programs, professional development courses, industry collaborations, and signature events such as the National Supply Chain Day Seminar and the ISMM National Supply Chain Excellence Awards. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Supply Chain Professionals and driving innovation and efficiency within the industry.
NATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN DAY SEMINAR;
The National Supply Chain Day Celebration is an annual event organized by ISMM to commemorate the vital role of Supply Chain Management in the economy and to mark the ISMM Anniversary. The celebrations include a National Supply Chain Day Seminar, designed to offer valuable insights into the latest trends and best practices in Supply Chain Management. It serves as a platform for professionals to network, share knowledge, and collaborate on initiatives that drive industry advancement.
ISMM NATIONAL SUPPLY CHAIN EXCELLENCE AWARDS;
The ISMM National Supply Chain Excellence Awards recognize and honour organizations and individuals that have demonstrated exceptional performance and innovation in Supply Chain Management. The Awards reflect the commitment and dedication of professionals striving for excellence.By acknowledging their achievements, ISMM aims to inspire others to pursue excellence and contribute to the growth and development of the Supply Chain sector.
The Media Briefing was chaired by Mr. Lilantha Subasinghe, President of ISMM. Attendees included Mr. Dimuka Hemantha, Vice President of ISMM; Mr. Ranil Abeysekera, Vice President of ISMM and Chairman of the National Supply Chain Day and 53rd Anniversary Celebrations Committee; Prof. Sanath Divakara, Vice President of ISMM; Mr. Priyanga Kirihena, General Secretary of ISMM; Mr. Kavinda Jayathilaka, Treasurer of ISMM; and Mr. Dilshan Silva, Chairman of the ISMM Marketing Committee.
The celebrations are expected to bring together key stakeholders from across industries, reinforcing the importance of supply chain excellence in driving Sri Lanka’s competitiveness and economic resilience.
