ISMM celebrated 1st National Supply Chain Day (Anniversary Day of ISMM) in Sri Lanka which was declared by the Government of Sri Lanka last year (2022) coincide with 51st Anniversary on 24th October 2023 at the Shangri-La Colombo with a full day National Seminar on the theme "Reshaping the Future of Sri Lanka through Sustainable Supply Chain Ecosystem” with more than 400 industry professionals. The Chief Guest was Hon. (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana (MP), Minister of Industries and Health, Guest of Honour & Keynote Specker was Mr. Chris Oanda the President of International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM) -UK and the Special Guest was Mr. Markku Henttinen CEO of IFPSM.
There were 6 Guest Speakers addressed the gathering on various timely topics related to supply chain management.
National Supply Chain Day is the Anniversary Day of ISMM (24th October) which was declared as the National Supply Chain Day by the Government of Sri Lanka considering the contribution to the propagation of Professional Supply Chain Management Education for the last five decades. As per the Cabinet Approval, declaration of the National Supply Chain Day was officially made on 01st November 2022 and the Annual Celebrations in each year shall commence from this year onwards. This will be a great achievement and a milestone for the ISMM in particular and Supply Chain Management Industry in Sri Lanka in general, to receive the proper recognition from the government itself and to address the due areas in the current context of SCM in a professional manner.
SESSION 1 – Developing the Resilient Supply Chains for Innovative Entrepreneurship towards Export-oriented Growth.
Session Chairman was Prof. Lakshman. R. Watawala, President, Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. First Speaker was Mr. Hasitha Premaratne, Managing Director, Brandix Lanka Ltd. Second Speaker was Mr. Niraj De Mel, Chairman, Sri Lanka Tea Board.
SESSION 2 -Navigating the Digital Disruption: Harnessing Agility and Sustainability in Supply Chain Management.
Session Chairman was Mr. Mahesh Perea, CEO, ICTA-Sri Lanka. First Speaker was Mrs. Ishari Siriwardane, General Manager, Digital Transformation Projects, Sri Lanka Telecom PLC. Second Speaker was Prof. Niles Perera, Professor, Department of Transportation and Logistics, University of Moratuwa.
SESSION 3 – Reshaping and Transformation: Pioneering a Circular Economy in Sri Lanka’s Supply Chain.
Session Chairman was Senior Professor H. D. Karunaratne PhD, Vice Chancellor University of Colombo. First Speaker was Dr. Janaki Kuruppu, Chairperson, Mother Sri Lanka Foundation. Second Speaker was Mr. Mahendra Jayasekera, Managing Director, Lanka Tiles PLC.
President of ISMM & Vice President of OPA Mr. Jayantha Gallehewa, Immediate Past President Mr. Sarath Gamage, Vice Presidents of ISMM Mr. Dimuka Hemantha, Maj Gen Renaka Udawatte (Rtd) and Mr. Lilantha Subasinghe, General Secretary of ISMM Dr. Sanath Divakara, Treasurer Mr. Dharshana Wijemanne, Council Members of ISMM and the staff of ISMM graced the occasion.
