FOUNDATION COURSE IN PURCHASING - ENGLISH MEDIUM

The Institute of Supply and Materials Management (ISMM) is the National Body representing the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management profession in Sri Lanka. It is incorporated by Act of Parliament No. 3 of 1981.

The Institute has been providing training to Supply and Materials Management personnel in the private / public sector for the last 23 years. The faculty consists of professionals from the public / private sector who have had several years of practical experience in the purchasing field.

The course is designed to increase the competence of those who are presently employed in the field of Purchasing and Stores Management - viz. Purchase Assistants, Storekeepers, Purchase Clerks or other officers engaged in this field and is intended to serve as a vocational qualification for the jobs in the purchasing field. Details of the above captioned course are as shown below :-

Objective

To provide participants with an understanding and basic knowledge in Purchasing Techniques to make use in the field of Purchasing Management.

For whom

The Course is designed for those who are engaged in lower levels in purchasing functions in public and private sector organizations. School leavers who are interested in the field of Supply and Materials Management also may apply to gain basic knowledge to follow the advance courses conducted by this Institute.

Requirements

Pass in G.C.E. (O/L) Examination with English and Mathematics or should be presently employed in purchasing related field.

Rs.14,000/= (Inclusive of Registration Fee)

Payments

Those paying by cheque should draw the cheque in favour of the “Institute of Supply and Materials Management” (Account Payee). The cheque should be sent by Registered Post along with the application form.

 

Those paying by cash can make the payment at the Institute from Monday to Friday during office hours (8.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.) and Saturday/Sunday by appointment. Or else deposit the fee in any branch of the Bank of Ceylon in favour of Account No. 74668943, Bank of Ceylon, Independence Square, Colombo 07 and fax (0112 584302) or post the bank slip with your name and the course name written on the bank slip clearly in block letters.

 

  • The balance payment should be made within one month of enlistment to the course.
  • The method of payment for those applicants who are sponsored is also as indicated above.
  • However, they could be registered for the course on submission of a letter from the sponsor guaranteeing payments.

 

Examination and Award of Certificate :

 

Participants who have attended 80% of lectures will be permitted to sit for the examination and the Certificate will be awarded to those who have successfully completed the examination.
